Director

Liza Deck

She earned her MFA in dance from Arizona State University ASU after attending Hope College Hope where she received the Florence Cavanaugh Dance Award. She has performed professionally with Andrew's Arts Dance Company, Aerial Dance Company, Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Opera Roanoke, Mill Mountain Theatre, danah bella DanceWorks dbDW and is currently the head of City Modern Ensemble. Since 1994, Mrs. Deck has directed the Fleming-Ruffner dance department and is proud to be the founder of the F.R.E.E. Dance Company.  Liza has taught at the American College Dance Festival, Regional High School Dance Festival, Hollin's outreach, Virginia Tech outreach and Washington and Lee University.  Her choreography has been featured at Virginia Tech, Radford University and Washington and Lee University and she has been a guest performer at Radford University, Washington and Lee University and Hollins University.

Production Designer

Renae Dower

Renae has been performing with CME since 2010, and she received her Bachelors in Studio Art from Roanoke College in 2014.  Her artistic background led her to becoming the Production Director of CME, where she creates the programs and posters, costumes, props and backdrops.  Renae is also a dancer and prop designer for Mental Health in Motion.  She feels incredibly fortunate to dance with this company of kind, creative and powerful women.

Rehearsal Director

Katie Reep

Katie Reep grew up in Roanoke, VA and spent her youth studying ballet, tap, jazz and modern at Art In Motion Dance Center.  She then went on to graduate from Randolph College with a BFA in Dance.  Randolph gave her the opportunity to take class and work with many guest artists including Walter Kennedy, Lori Belilove, Brynt Beitman, GIna Lanni, and Seyong Kim as well as choreograph and present her own work in the biannual dance concerts.  She was also able to serve as the Merchandising intern at the4 American Dance Festival during the Summer 2018 season, which gave her the opportunity to study under Balkeley White-Mcguire, a former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company.  Since3 graduating she has been working with Carilion Clinic as the manager of the Accounting Intake team.  When she isn't working she has had the pleasure of serving as the rehearsal director and company member for City Modern Ensemble, where she continues to choreograph and set her work on the company.
